Bus Service to Downtown Pittsburgh
Freedom Transit offers weekday service to downtown Pittsburgh from Washington County. Service on our Metro Commuter Service. Click here for a link to our Metro Monday through Friday schedule.
To help accommodate those attending the NFL draft, Freedom Transit has added three additional return times from Pittsburgh back to Washington County on Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24. One bus will depart downtown Pittsburgh at approximately 10:00 PM, another bus will depart at approximately 11:30 PM and the last bus will depart at approximately 12:15 AM. Information on stop locations in downtown are listed below in the inbound and outbound detour sections.
Please note: Freedom Transit has a limited fleet of buses and may not be able to accommodate all riders wishing to use the public transit service during the NFL draft. Fixed‑route bus service is subject to vehicle capacity limits. Boarding is permitted on a first‑come, first‑served basis until capacity is reached. Seating is not guaranteed, and standing may be required.

Inbound Detour
From April 22 through April 24, all Inbound Metro trips including Special NFL Draft service to Pittsburgh will not service inbound stops: Gateway Center – Liberty Ave & Stanwix, and Blvd of The Allies @ Wood St / Point Park University.
Inbound Metro trips will service: Smithfield St and 4th Ave (Special NFL Draft connection to PRT 99W & 99S toward event centers), Smithfield St & 5th Ave, and the East Busway.
Outbound Detour
From April 22 through April 24, all outbound Metro trips including Special NFL Draft service to Washington will not service outbound stops: Blvd of The Allies @ Wood St. and Liberty Ave – 3 Gateway Center.
Outbound Metro trips will service: East Busway Stop D (Special NFL Draft connection to PRT 99E), Liberty Ave @ 10thSt, Smithfield St @ 6th Ave, and Smithfield St & 3rd Ave (Special NFL Draft connection to PRT 99W & 99S).
Where can I catch the Freedom Transit bus to get to the NFL Draft?
Freedom Transit services three Park and Ride lots in Washington County:
- Jessop Place Park and Ride – Sheffield St. at E. Wilmington St., Washington, PA (74 spaces)
- Beau Street Park and Ride – E. Beau St. at Lakeview Dr, Washington, PA (217 spaces)
- Southpointe Park and Ride – Southpointe Blvd at Morganza Rd., Canonsburg, PA (129 spaces)
What time does the bus serve the Park and Ride lots?
Buses depart between 12:05 PM and 5:25 PM and arrive in Pittsburgh between 1:15 PM and 5:45 PM. Below are the times a bus departs each specific Park and Ride location.
- Jessop Place Park and Ride – 12:05 PM, 1:20 PM, 2:20 PM , 3:00 PM and 4:25 PM
- Beau Street Park and Ride – 12:25 PM, 1:40 PM, 2:40 PM, 3:40 PM, and 4:55
- Southpointe Park and Ride – 12:49 PM, 2:07 PM, 3:10 PM, 4:10 PM, 5:25 PM
Is service available from Freedom Transit to the NFL Draft on Saturday, April 25?
Freedom Transit offers limited Metro Saturday service. The service does not travel into downtown Pittsburgh, but instead connects to Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s “T” light-rail line at South Hills Village. The Metro Saturday route only services the Beau Street Park and Ride location with departures at 9:24 AM, 12:24 PM and 3:24 PM. Return times from South Hills Village are 10:30 AM, 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM. No additional service will be offered on Saturday for the NFL Draft.
Alternative Public Transit Options from the South
Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) operates the “T” light-rail line with a stop location just outside of South Hills Village Mall on Fort Couch Road in Upper St. Clair. During peak Draft hours, the Red Line and the Blue Line will run every 15 minutes from 10 AM to 1 AM. All fares on the "T" will be FREE from April 23-25, thanks to the generosity of Sheetz. No tickets, transit cards, or apps are required to board these specific services during the three days of the Draft.
